Frequently asked questions

What type of battery does the ZebraLight H600d Mk IV use?

The torch operates on 1 x 18650 Li-ion flat-top battery without a built-in protection circuit. It is important to use a battery without a protection module, as protected models may not fit inside the casing. The battery is not included in the pack and must be purchased separately. The torch’s operating voltage is between 2.7 V and 6.0 V. If the voltage drops to 2.7 V, the torch switches off automatically to protect the battery from over-discharge.

What does CRI 90+ mean and why is it important?

CRI (Colour Rendering Index) is a measure of how accurately light renders the true colours of objects. A value of 90+ indicates very high colour rendering, close to that of natural sunlight. This is particularly important for technical work – for example, when distinguishing the colours of electrical cables. Aside from work, neutral light with a high CRI is easier on the eyes and provides a more realistic view when hunting, fishing and hiking. The ZebraLight H600d Mk IV torch features a Cree XHP50.2 LED with a colour temperature of 5000K and a CRI of 90+.

How long does the ZebraLight H600d Mk IV last on low modes?

At the lowest programmable level, L2, the torch can run for up to 5.4 months at a luminous flux of 0.08 lm. At level L2 at 1.06 lm, the runtime is around 2 months, and at 0.3 lm – around 3.8 months. Level L1 provides 3.4 lm for 17.5 days. These figures make it exceptionally suitable for emergency situations and prolonged use in conditions where access to recharging is limited. The torch automatically reduces its brightness when the battery is low – from High to Medium and from Medium to Low.

Is the ZebraLight H600d Mk IV waterproof?

Yes, the torch has an IPX8 waterproof rating, which means it can withstand submersion to a depth of 2 metres for 30 minutes. The electronics are additionally sealed with thermally conductive silicone (potting compound), which provides protection not only against water but also against impacts. The body is made from a single piece of aluminium (unibody design) with a hard Type III Class I anodised finish. All this makes it suitable for use in the rain, in damp conditions and near bodies of water.

How do you switch between the modes on the ZebraLight H600d Mk IV?

It is controlled via a single electronic button. One click switches on High mode or turns the torch off. Two clicks activate Medium mode, whilst three clicks activate Beacon/Strobe mode. Holding the button down for more than 0.6 seconds starts a cycle through Low → Medium → High; releasing the button stops the cycle at the desired level. A double-click switches between the two sub-levels of the current mode, and the selection is retained even when the battery is replaced. The torch also features 3 mode groups (G5, G6, G7), accessible with 5, 6 or 7 clicks from the off position.

Can the ZebraLight H600d Mk IV be used as a work headlamp?

Yes, it is particularly well-suited for professional use. The high colour rendering index (CRI 90+) allows for accurate colour differentiation – important for electrical engineering and inspection tasks. The constant-current driver ensures stable, flicker-free light, which reduces eye strain during prolonged use. The compact unibody housing with Type III anodised finish is built to withstand daily use. Corning Gorilla Glass provides additional protection for the optics. The torch weighs just 39 g without the battery, making it comfortable to carry throughout the working day.

What is PID thermal regulation and how does it work on the ZebraLight H600d Mk IV?

PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) thermal regulation monitors the body temperature and automatically reduces the power output if the torch becomes excessively hot. This applies to the three highest brightness levels. The user can set the desired temperature threshold via a specific sequence of button operations. When held down and cycling through 6 cycles from Low to High, on the 7th cycle releasing the High button adds +1°C to the threshold (up to a maximum of +5°C); the setting on ‘Medium’ reverts to the factory setting, and on ‘Low’ it is reduced by 1°C (to a maximum of -5°C). The system works in conjunction with the direct connection of the LED board to the aluminium housing for improved cooling.
