It is important to know that flashlights with many lumens often scatter the light and illuminate a wide area, which is not always the best choice. When buying, also check the data on how many lumens the flashlight will shine with after 5 minutes of operation – often the value is only 10-20% of the advertised maximum lumens.

Light range

It is measured in candelas, which are then converted into meters by a formula and depends on the reflector, optics, LED and power. Important when searching or in open terrain, hunting, in tactical flashlights. Long-range flashlights with a compact size are preferred by hunters and police officers.

Operating time

Depends on the battery capacity and mode. A good flashlight can work between 2 and 30 hours depending on the brightness and battery. You can often carry a spare battery or charge the flashlight in the car or from a solar panel.
