Description

Tojiro Trism FC-450 Knife Sharpener with Ceramic Rollers

The Tojiro Trism FC-450 is a Japanese fixed-angle sharpener with ceramic rollers. It is designed for fast and effective sharpening in three simple steps.

How to Use a Sharpening Stone

Place the sharpener horizontally on a flat surface and hold it firmly by the base. Place the knife in section 1, apply light pressure, and pull it toward you.

  • Repeat the movement 10–20 times in both directions
  • If the knife is very dull, increase the number of strokes to 30–40 times
  • Go to Section 2 and repeat the process
  • After sharpening, wash the knife and the sharpening stone under cold running water
  • Let the sharpener air dry

To maintain the sharpness, we recommend running the knife through the second step about 10 times each week. This keeps the knife exceptionally sharp without the need for resharpening.

Important Information About the Blade

This sharpener is not suitable for serrated blades or those with a single-sided bevel—such as Deba, Yanagiba, and similar knives.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of knives is the Tojiro Trism FC-450 sharpener suitable for?

This sharpener is suitable for standard knives with a smooth edge and a double-bevel. It is not recommended for use with serrated blades or single-bevel knives such as Deba and Yanagiba. With these types of blades, the fixed angle does not ensure proper sharpening and may damage the cutting edge.

How many times should I run the knife through the sharpener each time I sharpen it?

With regular maintenance, 10–20 passes in both directions through Section 1 are sufficient, followed by a repeat in Section 2. If the blade is severely dull and does not cut well, increase the number of strokes to 30–40 in Section 1. Regular maintenance reduces the need for intensive resharpening.

How do you clean the Tojiro FC-450 sharpener after use?

After you finish sharpening, rinse the knife and the sharpener under cold running water. Do not use hot water or harsh cleaning agents. Let the sharpener air dry naturally—do not put it in the dishwasher or wipe it with abrasive materials.

How often should a knife be sharpened with this sharpener?

We recommend weekly maintenance with about 10 passes on the second step. This maintains the knife's sharpness without the need for a full resharpening. For more intensive use, the frequency can be increased as needed.

What is the fixed sharpening angle of the Tojiro Trism FC-450?

The specific angle is not specified in the official product description. The fixed angle is determined by the design of the ceramic rollers and ensures consistent and repeatable results with every sharpening, without requiring any experience or skill on the part of the user.

What is the difference between section 1 and section 2 of the sharpener?

Section 1 is designed for rough sharpening—it removes a larger amount of material and is suitable for dull blades. Section 2 is used for finishing and refining the blade after rough sharpening. The two sections operate sequentially to achieve optimal results.

Where is the Tojiro Trism FC-450 sharpening stone manufactured?

The Tojiro Trism FC-450 sharpener is manufactured in Japan. Tojiro is a well-known Japanese manufacturer of kitchen utensils and accessories. Its Japanese origin guarantees precision in craftsmanship and the quality of the materials used, including the ceramic rollers.
