Description
Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X Super Edge 7 Fixed-Blade Knife – Black Handle
The Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X is the result of 15 years of collaborative development between survival expert Joe Vogel and Swiss knife master Roman Kasse. The knife is manufactured entirely in Solingen, Germany.
The blade is forged from Japanese ATS-34 stainless steel, heat-treated under vacuum, and cryogenically treated at -80°C. This treatment minimizes retained austenite and ensures excellent edge retention.
Key Advantages of the Blade
- Rockwell hardness of 60–61 HRC—retains its sharpness for an exceptionally long time
- Ground to zero before sharpening using wet grinding
- A hybrid geometry combining sabre and Scandinavian grinding
- Primary polish: 9° per side; microsphere: 20° per side
- Slightly raised surfaces for better cutting of wood and fibers
- A false edge to make it easier to release the arrow while hunting
- The back of the blade is sharpened for starting a fire
TPE polymer handle
The handle is made of TPE thermoplastic elastomer—a durable, non-slip material with a diamond-patterned surface. It provides a secure grip even with wet or sweaty hands.
- Resistant to oils, fats, and solvents
- Easy to clean
- Pleasantly warm to the touch, even in cold weather
- High wear resistance
Genuine leather wallet
The knife comes with a sheath made of genuine leather, weighing 83 grams. It ensures reliable and safe carrying.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of steel is used for the blade of the Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X?
The blade is made of Japanese ATS-34 stainless steel. It has the same chemical composition as 154CM steel and outperforms conventional stainless steels such as 440C in terms of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and hardness. The steel is heat-treated under vacuum and cryogenically treated at -80°C, which minimizes retained austenite and ensures excellent edge retention. The hardness reaches 60–61 HRC on the Rockwell scale.
What is cryogenic treatment, and why is it important?
Cryogenic treatment is performed at -80°C after quenching and before tempering the steel. It reduces the amount of so-called retained austenite in the metal’s structure. The result is less burr formation during sharpening and significantly better retention of edge sharpness. At a hardness of 60–61 HRC, the blade remains easy to sharpen with standard sharpening tools.
What is the geometry of the Evo-X blade?
The blade features a hybrid grind combining sabre and Scandinavian geometries. The main grind is 9° per side, and the microsphere is 20° per side. Both surfaces are slightly convex. This combination ensures effective splitting and cutting of wood, easy work with soft materials and fibers, as well as a comfortable throw when hunting. The back of the blade is additionally sharpened for use with a flint when starting a fire.
What is the handle made of, and what are its advantages?
The handle is made of TPE thermoplastic elastomer—a material with high elasticity, strength, and resistance to weathering. The diamond-patterned coating ensures a secure grip even with wet, sweaty, or bloodied hands. TPE is resistant to oils, greases, and solvents, easy to clean, and pleasantly warm to the touch even in cold weather. The material does not require vulcanization and is recyclable.
What kind of handle comes with the knife?
The knife comes with a sheath made of genuine leather. It weighs 83 grams. The sheath ensures that the knife can be carried reliably and safely.
What are the knife's main dimensions and weight?
The blade is 117 mm long and 4.8 mm thick, and the total length of the knife is 232 mm. The knife weighs 157 grams, and the sheath weighs an additional 83 grams.
Who is behind the development of the Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X, and where is it manufactured?
The knife was developed by survival expert Joe Vogel in collaboration with Swiss master knife maker Roman Kasse. The development process took 15 years. Production takes place entirely in Solingen, Germany, with much of the work carried out by established local partners. The Linder brand oversees the manufacturing process and ensures the high-quality hardening of the steel.
