A battery with or without protection—which one should we choose?

Protected batteries have a small built-in circuit board that protects the cell from overcharging, over-discharging, and excessive current. If necessary, it automatically cuts off the power. These batteries usually have a raised positive terminal and are suitable for flashlights with mechanical reverse-insertion protection.

Batteries without protection have a flat positive terminal, such as the Vapcell K62. They are designed for devices in which the protection is built into the flashlight itself or the charger.
