A battery with or without protection?
Protected batteries contain a small circuit board embedded in the anode or cathode. It protects against overcharging, over-discharging, and excessive current—if necessary, it simply cuts off the power supply.
Batteries with a protruding positive terminal and built-in protection are suitable for flashlights with mechanical reverse-polarity protection—for example, those from Acebeam, Olight, Fenix, Nitecore, and Armytec. The G53 model has a flat positive terminal and does not have built-in protection.
Unprotected batteries are suitable for flashlights designed specifically for the standard size—including models from Dulotec and Zebralight. The protected versions are slightly longer and wider, which makes them incompatible with some devices.
