The SRM Rubik Large is a reliable EDC knife designed for people who value quality and durability. The blade is made of 10Cr15MoV steel with a hardness of 58–60 HRC, and the handle is made of sturdy G10 fiberglass.
The knife handles everyday and tougher tasks with ease. It’s comfortable to carry thanks to the deep Ambi-Clip, which can be adjusted without tools.
Design and Locking Mechanism
The Mono-Chassis Liner system provides a sturdy frame within which the Ambi-Lock mechanism operates smoothly and reliably. The lock is ambidextrous, making it convenient for both right- and left-handed users.
The phosphor-bronze washers help the blade open smoothly and quietly. This is a detail that sets a well-crafted knife apart.
10Cr15MoV Steel—What Is It?
This is a Chinese stainless steel with properties similar to those of VG-10. It contains vanadium, chromium, and molybdenum, which provide:
- high corrosion resistance
- good cutting edge retention
- relatively high wear resistance
- medium sharpening difficulty
The hardness ranges from 58 to 64 HRC, depending on the heat treatment. The steel is suitable for a wide range of applications.
G10 handle—durability and a secure grip
G10 is a composite made of fiberglass and resin. It is extremely strong and wear-resistant.
The textured finish prevents the knife from slipping in your hand, even in wet conditions. G10 is among the most durable materials used for knife handles.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of steel is the blade of the SRM 7228L-GW made of?
The blade is made of 10Cr15MoV steel—a Chinese stainless steel with properties similar to those of VG-10. It contains vanadium, chromium, and molybdenum, which provide high corrosion resistance, good edge retention, and relatively high wear resistance. The hardness ranges from 58 to 64 HRC, depending on the heat treatment. Sharpening is moderately difficult, which means it can be maintained at home with a suitable sharpener.
What is Ambi-Lock, and how does it work?
Ambi-Lock is a double-sided blade locking mechanism. It allows the knife to be used comfortably by both right- and left-handed users. The lock is activated via the blade pivot and ensures a secure lock during use. The Mono-Chassis Liner system further reinforces the construction, ensuring that the mechanism operates smoothly and reliably even after prolonged use.
What is G10 material, and why is it used for knife handles?
G10 is a composite material made up of layers of fiberglass impregnated with epoxy resin. It is extremely strong, lightweight, and wear-resistant. The textured finish prevents slipping when your hands are wet or in challenging conditions. G10 does not absorb moisture and does not warp due to temperature changes, making it the material of choice for the handles of high-quality knives.
How does the Ambi-Clip work, and can it be adjusted?
Ambi-Clip is a snug-fitting belt clip that allows you to change its position without tools. This is especially convenient on the go, when you need to quickly adjust how you carry it. The clip is reversible and can be attached in different positions to suit your preferred hand and carrying style.
What are the dimensions and weight of the SRM 7228L-GW?
The SRM 7228L-GW knife has a total length of 207 mm and a blade length of 87 mm. The blade is 3.1 mm thick, which provides a good balance between strength and precision when cutting. The knife weighs 112 grams—it feels substantial in the hand without being burdensome to carry.
What tasks is the SRM 7228L-GW suitable for?
The SRM 7228L-GW is designed for everyday carry (EDC). The 10Cr15MoV steel blade handles everyday tasks well, but is also sturdy enough for rougher conditions. The G10 handle provides a secure grip, and the locking system ensures safe operation. This knife is ideal for people looking for a reliable, high-quality tool for everyday use.
What are phosphor bronze washers, and what is their function?
The phosphor-bronze washers are positioned around the blade’s axis and reduce friction during opening and closing. They ensure smooth, quiet, and even blade movement. In addition, they are resistant to corrosion and wear, which extends the life of the mechanism. It is precisely these details that distinguish a well-crafted knife from cheaper alternatives.
