Materials and Technologies

10Cr15MoV is a Chinese stainless steel with properties similar to those of VG-10. It contains vanadium for high wear resistance, as well as chromium and molybdenum for corrosion resistance. Its hardness ranges from 58 to 64 HRC, depending on the heat treatment. It is relatively easy to sharpen.

G10 is a composite material made of fiberglass and resin. Its grooved surface prevents slipping. The material is lightweight, flexible, and extremely durable.

The Liner Lock mechanism uses a side spring on the inside of the handle. When fully opened, it slides and locks the blade in place. It is released by pressing sideways with your thumb—without changing your grip, even with one hand.

The flip mechanism features a small tab on the spine of the blade with a textured surface. It opens with a sliding motion of the index finger—quickly and intuitively.

The built-in steel ball bearings are made of hardened steel and phosphor bronze. They ensure smooth opening and proper centering of the blade with every use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of steel is the blade of the SRM 401LC-GT made of?

The blade is made of 10Cr15CoMov stainless steel with a hardness of 58–60 HRC. This Chinese steel is similar in properties to VG-10. It contains vanadium, chromium, and molybdenum, which make it resistant to corrosion and wear. It sharpens relatively easily and retains its cutting edge well during daily use.

What is the Liner Lock mechanism?

The Liner Lock is one of the most common locking mechanisms used in folding knives. Its main component is a side spring located on the inside of the handle. When the knife is fully opened, the spring slides into place and locks the blade in position. To release it, press to the side with your thumb, after which the blade can be folded back. The mechanism allows for one-handed closing without changing your grip.

What is Ambi-Clip, and what are its benefits?

Ambi-Clip, also known as TFAC (Tool-Free Ambi Clip), is a pocket clip that can be repositioned without tools. Users can quickly adjust its position for the convenience of both right- and left-handed people. This is especially useful for active everyday carry, when flexibility is needed without the need for additional tools.

Why is G10 a preferred material for EDC knives?

G10 is a composite material made of fiberglass and resin. It is lightweight, very durable, and wear-resistant. The grooved surface layer ensures a secure grip even in wet conditions. The material is flexible and ranks among the strongest options for folding knife handles.

How does the flipper mechanism on the SRM 401LC-GT work?

The flipper is a small tab located on the spine of the blade. Its surface is textured for better grip. It opens with a sliding motion of the index finger—quick, smooth, and comfortable. The mechanism allows for one-handed opening without extra effort.

What is cryogenic treatment, and why is it important?

Cryogenic treatment is a specialized thermal process applied to SRM blades after standard hardening. It improves edge retention, increases hardness, and enhances corrosion resistance. When combined with coolant-assisted sharpening, the process ensures that the blade retains its cutting performance for a longer period of time.

What are the dimensions and weight of the SRM 401LC-GT?

The blade of the SRM 401LC-GT is 83 mm long and 2.5 mm thick. The total length of the knife when open is 191 mm. It weighs 62 grams, making it comfortable to carry in your pocket every day without feeling heavy.
