Description

Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X Super Edge 7 Fixed-Blade Knife – Pink Handle

The Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X is the result of 15 years of development. It was created by survival expert Joe Vogel in collaboration with Swiss knife master Roman Kasse and is manufactured entirely in Solingen, Germany.

The blade is made of Japanese ATS-34 stainless steel, heat-treated under vacuum and cryogenically treated at -80°C. This treatment minimizes retained austenite and ensures excellent edge retention.

Key Benefits of the Survival and Bushcraft Knife

  • The blade is ground down to zero before sharpening—the result is a strong and precise cutting edge
  • A hybrid cut between a sabre and a Scandinavian cut: a main cut at 9° and a microsphere cut at 20° on each side
  • Hardness 60–61 HRC—the blade stays sharp for a long time and is easy to sharpen with ordinary whetstones
  • The back of the blade is tapered—optimized for starting a fire and using a flint
  • False edge—makes it easier to cast while fishing
  • TPE polymer handle with diamond-patterned texture—provides a secure grip even with wet or bloodied hands
  • TPE is resistant to oils, fats, and solvents—it is easy to clean and wear-resistant
  • The bag is made of genuine leather

ATS-34 Steel—Why It's the Preferred Choice for Heavy-Duty Knives

ATS-34 is a high-quality Japanese stainless steel with a composition identical to that of 154CM. Compared to conventional steels such as 440C, it offers higher corrosion resistance, greater wear resistance, and higher hardness. It is suitable for knives used frequently and under heavy-duty conditions.

Handle material: TPE thermoplastic elastomer

TPE is a rubber with high elasticity and strength, suitable for injection molding. It is a non-toxic, eco-friendly, and recyclable material. It offers a soft feel, weather resistance, and temperature stability. The knife feels pleasantly warm even when cold.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of steel is the blade of the Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X made of?

The blade is made of Japanese ATS-34 stainless steel. It has an identical composition to American 154CM steel and outperforms conventional steels such as 440C in terms of corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and hardness. The steel is heat-treated under vacuum and cryogenically treated at -80°C, which ensures a hardness of 60 to 61 HRC and excellent long-term edge retention.

What is cryogenic treatment, and why is it important?

Cryogenic treatment is performed at a temperature of -80°C after quenching and before tempering the steel. It minimizes the so-called retained austenite in the metal’s structure. The result is reduced burr formation during sharpening and significantly better edge retention. The blade stays sharp longer and is easier to sharpen with standard whetstones.

What type of grind does the Evo-X blade have?

The Evo-X blade features a hybrid grind between a sabre and a Scandinavian grind. The main grind has an angle of 9° per side, while the microsphere has an angle of 20° per side. Both are slightly convex. This combination is optimized for bushcraft and hunting—wood splits easily, and game and fibers are cut precisely thanks to the thin edge behind the cutting bevel.

Why is a TPE handle suitable for harsh operating conditions?

TPE is a thermoplastic elastomer with high elasticity, strength, and non-slip properties. The diamond-patterned grip on the handle ensures a secure hold even with wet, sweaty, or bloodied hands. The material is resistant to oils, fats, and solvents; it is easy to clean and wear-resistant. Furthermore, it is non-toxic, eco-friendly, and recyclable. The handle feels pleasantly warm even at low temperatures.

What are the knife's dimensions and weight?

The blade is 117 mm long and 4.8 mm thick. The total length of the knife is 232 mm. The knife weighs 157 grams, and the genuine leather sheath weighs 83 grams. These dimensions make it a compact and well-balanced tool, convenient to carry and use on a daily basis in the field.

Who developed the Joe Vogel Evo-X, and where is it manufactured?

The knife was developed by survival expert Joe Vogel in collaboration with Swiss knife maker Roman Kasse. Development took 15 years. It is manufactured entirely in Solingen, Germany, with a significant portion of the work carried out by established partners in the region. The Linder brand oversees production and quality control.

What kinds of activities is the Linder Joe Vogel Evo-X knife suitable for?

The knife is designed for survival, hunting, and bushcraft. The hybrid grind allows for easy splitting of wood and precise cutting of game and fibers. The false edge facilitates thrusting during hunting. The back of the blade is tapered and optimized for striking a flint. The combination of ATS-34 steel and a TPE handle makes it a reliable tool for heavy-duty use.
