SRM 251MB-GB Folding Knife for Everyday Carry
The SRM 251MB-GB is a compact folding knife for EDC use, featuring a minimalist design with no unnecessary elements. Lightweight and comfortable, it’s equally at home in the city and in the great outdoors.
Blade made of Austrian N690 steel
The symmetrical, spear-shaped blade is made of Austrian Bohler N690 steel with a hardness of 58–60 HRC. The steel contains 17% chromium, which ensures high resistance to rust and corrosion.
- Cobalt additive for a uniform structure and better edge retention
- Cryogenic treatment for increased hardness and durability
- Grinding with cooling to preserve the blade's properties
- Gray titanium coating—hides scratches and protects against corrosion
- A channel in the center of the blade
G10 handle with a carbon coating
The handle is made of G10 polymer with a carbon coating—a composite of fiberglass and resin. The grooved coating prevents slipping and ensures a secure grip.
Locking Mechanism and System
The knife features a Front Flipper mechanism—the tab is located on the spine of the blade and opens with a sliding motion of the thumb. The Ambi-Lock system works equally well with either the right or left hand.
- Mono-Chassis Liner – a sturdier design and smooth operation
- Hard steel and phosphor bronze bearings for easy opening
- The blade is always properly centered
- Ambi-Clip Clip – the position can be adjusted without tools

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of steel is the blade of the SRM 251MB-GB made of?
The blade is made of Austrian Bohler N690 stainless steel. It contains 17% chromium, which is significantly higher than the standard 13% found in most steels. The addition of cobalt creates a uniform structure and improves edge retention. The steel also undergoes a special cryogenic treatment, which brings its hardness to 58–60 HRC. The result is a blade that retains its cutting edge for a long time and resists corrosion.
What is the Ambi-Lock system, and who is it suitable for?
Ambi-Lock is a locking system that SRM has been developing for many years. It is designed to operate comfortably with either the right or left hand. The system is built on a Mono-Chassis Liner construction, which makes the knife more durable and ensures smooth, reliable, and long-lasting operation of the lock. The blade lock is secure and safe with every use.
How does the Front Flipper mechanism on the SRM 251MB-GB work?
The Front Flipper is a mechanism for manually opening folding knives. On the SRM 251MB-GB, the flipper tab is located on the spine of the blade. The knife is opened with a sliding motion of the thumb. The tab is slightly grooved for better grip and easier handling. The mechanism is almost entirely concealed within the knife’s body, which preserves its sleek profile and ergonomics.
What is the knife handle made of?
The handle is made of carbon-coated G10. G10 is a composite material made from fiberglass and resin. It is strong, wear-resistant, and ranks among the most durable materials for knife handles. The textured finish prevents slipping and ensures a secure grip even in challenging conditions.
What is the Ambi-Clip used for?
The Ambi-Clip is designed to easily attach the knife to a pocket or belt. Its main advantage is that the position can be adjusted without tools. This is especially convenient when you’re on the go and need to quickly change how you carry it. The clip is sturdy and functional.
What are the dimensions and weight of the SRM 251MB-GB?
The SRM 251MB-GB knife has a total length of 178 mm. The blade is 76 mm long and 2.5 mm thick. The knife weighs 64 grams. These compact dimensions make it convenient for everyday carry in a pocket without adding unnecessary bulk.
What is the role of cryogenic treatment in SRM knives?
All SRM blades undergo a special cryogenic treatment in addition to standard heat treatment. This procedure improves edge retention, making the blade harder and more corrosion-resistant. The sharpening process is also performed under cooling to preserve the blade’s hardness and properties. The end result is a sharper and more durable cutting edge.
