SRM 105M-GB Folding EDC Knife – Elegance and Practicality

The SRM 105M-GB is a folding knife from the SRM Air collection, designed for everyday carry. It combines a stylish look with reliable functionality.

The blade is made of Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel and features a drop-point profile. This shape ensures long-lasting sharpness, corrosion resistance, and easy control while cutting.

Materials and Construction

Sandvik 14C28N Steel

14C28N is a stainless steel produced by the Swedish company Sandvik. It falls into the mid-range category but delivers exceptional performance—it sharpens to a very fine edge and holds its edge for a long time.

The steel offers excellent hardness and high corrosion resistance. All SRM blades undergo a gentle heat treatment and a special cryogenic treatment to ensure better edge retention.

The cooling-assisted sharpening process ensures that hardness is maintained and results in a more durable cutting edge.

G10 handle

The handle is made of G10—a composite of fiberglass and resin. The material is strong, lightweight, and wear-resistant.

The ribbed surface prevents the knife from slipping in your hand. G10 is one of the most durable materials used in knives.

Ceramic Bearings

The built-in ceramic bearings ensure smooth and easy opening of the blade. Thanks to them, the blade is always properly centered.

Front Flipper Mechanism

The Front Flipper is a tab located on the spine of the blade. It opens with a sliding motion of the thumb—quickly and intuitively.

The blade has a slightly textured finish for better grip. The knife opens effortlessly with one hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of steel is the blade of the SRM 105M-GB made of?

The blade is made of Sandvik 14C28N—a stainless steel produced by the Swedish company Sandvik. It offers high hardness in the range of 57–59 HRC, excellent edge retention, and good corrosion resistance. The steel is classified as mid-range but delivers results comparable to more expensive materials. All SRM blades undergo additional cryogenic treatment, which improves the durability of the cutting edge.

What is a slip joint lock, and how does it work?

A slip joint is a mechanism that holds the blade in the open position using spring pressure, without a rigid lock. The blade is held in place by a spring, not by a locking element. To close the blade, manual force must be applied against the spring. This type of mechanism is widely used in classic pocket knives and is suitable for everyday use.

What are the advantages of a G10 handle?

G10 is a composite material made of fiberglass and resin. It is extremely strong, lightweight, and wear-resistant. The grooved surface of the handle ensures a secure grip even with wet hands. The material does not absorb moisture and withstands a variety of usage conditions. G10 ranks among the most durable materials used in knife manufacturing.

How does the Front Flipper opening mechanism work?

The Front Flipper is a tab located on the spine of the blade. The knife is opened by sliding the thumb along the tab. This mechanism allows for quick and smooth one-handed opening. The tab is slightly textured for better grip during use. This type of mechanism is convenient for everyday tasks where one hand is occupied.

What are the dimensions and weight of the SRM 105M-GB?

The knife has a total length of 177 mm when open. The blade is 75 mm long and 2.3 mm thick. The knife weighs 55 grams, making it lightweight and comfortable for everyday carry. Its compact size makes it easy to slip into a pocket or bag.

What is cryogenic blade treatment?

Cryogenic treatment is a specialized manufacturing process in which steel is cooled to very low temperatures following heat treatment. In SRM, it is combined with a mild heat treatment. The result is better edge retention, higher hardness, and greater corrosion resistance. The cooling-during-sharpening process further preserves the hardness of the cutting edge and extends the blade’s service life.

What kinds of tasks is the SRM 105M-GB suitable for?

The SRM 105M-GB is designed as an EDC knife for everyday use. It is suitable for opening packages, outdoor work, and food preparation while camping. The drop-point blade profile ensures precise control when cutting. Its lightweight construction and compact size make it comfortable to carry at all times. You can find it at Dulotec.COM at a competitive price with fast shipping.
