Description

Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic M4G – a pen for every situation

The Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic M4G is a pen with a lacquered brass barrel, designed for people who rely on their tools. Its one-handed operation makes it convenient and practical for everyday use.

It is suitable for the office, construction sites, medical staff, law enforcement, firefighters and the military. Anyone who values reliability will appreciate it.

Space-tested writing technology

The ink is thixotropic – it is solid when at rest but liquefies when writing. The pen does not skip or leak under any circumstances.

The refill contains a pressurised nitrogen gas cartridge. A small metal cylinder presses against the hermetically sealed ink, allowing you to write at any angle.

Works in extreme conditions

  • Temperature range: from -34Β°C to +120Β°C
  • Writes underwater
  • Works in zero gravity
  • Writes at any angle, including upside down
  • Lasts up to three times longer than ordinary ink

Construction and materials

The barrel is made of polished brass with a lacquer finish that preserves the metal’s natural colour. The construction comprises brass and steel.

The tip of the refill is a tungsten carbide ball. The pen is compact – it fits easily into a wallet or organiser.

The clip allows it to be attached to the edge of a pocket or rucksack. Each pen is precision-assembled, hand-tested and comes with a lifetime guarantee against manufacturing defects.

The perfect gift for a man or a woman

Fisher Space Pens make a suitable gift for teachers, doctors, lawyers, politicians, business leaders, school leavers, police officers and military personnel. They are practical, durable and a pleasure to use.

They’re also suitable for the car or your everyday bag – they don’t leak in summer or freeze in winter. At Dulotec.COM, you’ll find this model in an elegant gift box.

History of the Fisher Space Pen

During the early NASA missions, astronauts used pencils. For the Gemini programme in 1965, NASA purchased 34 mechanical pencils at a total cost of $4,382.50 – around $128.89 each. This sparked public outcry, and the agency began looking for alternatives.

Paul S. Fisher of Fisher Pen Co. developed a ballpoint pen with a pressurised ink cartridge that works in zero gravity, underwater and at extreme temperatures. The company invested around US$1 million of its own funds, without any funding from NASA.

In 1967, following rigorous testing, NASA agreed to equip the Apollo programme’s astronauts with these pens. Around 400 were purchased at a price of US$6 each. In February 1969, the Soviet Union also purchased 100 Fisher pens and 1,000 refills for the Soyuz spaceflights. To this day, American astronauts and Russian cosmonauts continue to use these pens.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes the Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic M4G different from ordinary pens?

The Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic M4G uses pressurised ink technology developed for spaceflight. The ink is thixotropic – it is solid when at rest but liquefies when writing. The cartridge contains a nitrogen gas cartridge which pressurises the ink, allowing you to write at any angle, including upside down. The pen does not skip or leak, even under extreme conditions. It lasts up to three times longer than ordinary ink.

At what temperatures does the Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic M4G work?

The pen performs reliably at temperatures ranging from -34Β°C to +120Β°C. This makes it suitable for use in cold winter weather, when ordinary pens stop writing, as well as in high temperatures. It won’t freeze in the car in winter or run in the summer heat. It is precisely these qualities that make it the pen of choice for people working outdoors.

What materials is the pen made of?

The barrel is made of polished brass with a lacquer finish, which preserves the metal’s natural colour. The construction incorporates brass and steel. The tip of the refill is made of tungsten carbide – a material known for its exceptional hardness and durability. The lacquer finish protects the brass from oxidation and gives it a shiny appearance.

Is the Fisher Space Pen refill replaceable?

Yes, the refill is replaceable. The M4G model comes with a black SPR4 refill with a medium line width. When the ink runs out, the refill can be replaced with a new one without having to replace the whole pen. This makes the pen a cost-effective and long-lasting investment.

Is the Fisher Space Pen Cap-O-Matic M4G suitable as a gift?

The pen comes in an elegant gift box, making it ready to give as a present without the need for additional wrapping. It is suitable for men and women in various professions – doctors, lawyers, military personnel, police officers, teachers, business leaders and school leavers. Its history and the technology behind it make it an interesting topic of conversation. At Dulotec.COM, you’ll find this model at an affordable price with fast delivery.

What warranty is offered for the Fisher Space Pen?

Every Fisher Space Pen is precision-assembled and hand-tested. The manufacturer offers a lifetime guarantee against all manufacturing defects. This means that if a manufacturing defect is found, the pen will be repaired or replaced. This guarantee reflects the manufacturer’s confidence in the quality of the product.

Have astronauts used Fisher Space Pens on actual missions?

Yes. Following rigorous testing, NASA adopted Fisher pens for the Apollo programme in 1967. Around 400 pens were purchased at a price of $6 each. In 1969, the Soviet Union also purchased 100 Fisher pens and 1,000 refills for the Soyuz spaceflights. Prior to this, Soviet cosmonauts had used pencils. To this day, American astronauts and Russian cosmonauts rely on this technology during spaceflights.
