A battery with or without protection—what's the difference?

Batteries with built-in protection contain a small circuit board in the anode or cathode. It monitors operating parameters and, in the event of an anomaly, automatically shuts down the battery to protect the cell from damage.

The C1840C model with a protruding plus sign is compatible with flashlights equipped with mechanical reverse-insertion protection. These include products from Acebeam, Olight, Fenix, Nitecore, and Armytec.

It is not suitable for flashlights such as Zebralight and Dulotec, which are designed specifically for unprotected cells. The protected battery is slightly larger than the standard one, so it is not compatible with all devices.
